Description
A4988 green and red
The A4988 driver is an open-source board dedicated to stepper motor control. It controls the rotation of the engine according to the instructions received by the control board. A potentiometer present on the driver also limits the engine torque.
Input voltage (power): 8-35V (12V recommended)
Input voltage (logical): 3-5.5V
Continuous current per phase: 1A
Maximum current per phase: 1.75A (with heatsink and ventilation)
Micro-step resolution: step by step, half-step, 1/4-step, 1/8
Protection: overheating
No voltage reversal protection
Size: 21 x 15 x 11mm.
Drv8825 purple
The DRV8825 driver is the evolution of the A4988, includes adjustable current limitation, overcurrent and overheat protection, and six micro-step resolutions (up to 1/32 steps). It operates from 8.2 V to 45 V and can provide up to 1.5 A per phase without radiator or forced airflow (up to 2.2 A per coil with sufficient additional cooling). The driver has a pinout and interface almost identical to those of the A4988, so it can be used as a high-performance replacement. Adjustable current control allows you to adjust the maximum current output with a potentiometer, allowing you to use voltages higher than the rated voltage of your stepper motor to achieve higher step rates.
Can interface directly with 3.3 V and 5 V systems
