Description
The use of high quality raw materials creates a 3D printer filament that is particularly easy to process. Thanks to a state-of-the-art manufacturing process, very low manufacturing tolerances are achieved, which leads to convincing printing results with all FDM 3D printers. Each reel is sealed in a high quality bag. This product is made in Switzerland.
Material :
Lightweight polyactide is a polymer that expands during 3D printing. Thanks to the active foaming technology, parts can be produced with a weight reduction of up to 70%. The material starts to foam from a temperature of about 200°C. The expansion effect increases with increasing temperature. Maximum expansion is achieved at a printing temperature of approximately 250-260°C. With optimal settings, the flow factor can be reduced to a value of 0.3, which leads to extremely light PLA components. Use foaming technology to produce low density parts, print parts in a single layer, which is up to 1.2 mm wide (with a 0.4 mm nozzle) and thus reduce printing time by a factor of 3 or you increase the layer height and thus can also reduce printing time.
A heating bed is advantageous for LW-PLA filament, but not absolutely necessary.
Properties:
Ideal material for model aircraft
Weight reduction of up to 70%.
Expansion by a factor of 3
Printing possible directly on the glass plate
With an LW-PLA coil, you can print up to 3 times more parts than with a standard PLA coil due to the lower throughput factor
Can become soft again from 60°C
The optimal print settings should be tested individually for each printer model
It is almost impossible to prevent thread formation during vacuum runs – The colour becomes lighter after expansion
PLA or polylactide filament is in principle biodegradable, but certain environmental conditions are required, which can usually only be found in industrial composting facilities. PLA does not normally decompose in nature. We therefore advise against composting PLA filament or PLA printed parts.
